Building Regulations Part II

There are a wide range of organisations around which are responsible for looking after standards in building work and regulation.   Guidance on which can be got from the Building Regulations.  The documents can be seen by clicking here.

Most electrical work needs to be certified.  This can be done by either Building Control (by paying them a fee, with the rest of the works) or by using a ‘competent’ person who is affiliated to a regulatory body such as NICEIC, NAPIT or Trustmark.

The governing body, through your contractor will issue you with a certificate of compliance for the work carried out and we also update your local authority’s records. This will help you with future house sale issues and may be required by future extensions of the home information pack.
